Chuuk (formerly “Truk”) features one of the largest lagoons in the world (79 by 50 km). It is the FSM's most populous state, with 50,000 residents, most of whom live in Chuuk Lagoon on the capital island of Weno (13,800).
Over 80 Imperial Japanese Navy ships remain submerged in the lagoon, making it the world's most premier shipwreck diving destination.
